A network of vertical farms is transforming access to fresh food in urban areas that have long been classified as food deserts. These high-tech indoor facilities can grow leafy greens and vegetables year-round, regardless of weather or season.

The farms use LED lighting and hydroponic systems that consume 95% less water than traditional agriculture while producing yields up to 400 times higher per square foot.
