A revolutionary eye implant has restored reading ability to people with untreatable age-related macular degeneration. The device was inserted under the retinas of 38 patients, paired with video-recording glasses that transmit visual information to the brain.
Remarkably, 84% of participants were able to read again after receiving the implant. "In the history of artificial vision, this represents a new era," said Dr. Mahi Muqit from London's Moorfields Eye Hospital.

The technology offers hope to millions worldwide suffering from conditions that were previously considered untreatable. Clinical trials are now expanding to include more patients.
