Cancer Survival Rates Have Doubled in 50 Years: We're in a 'Golden Age' of Treatment
Cancer Research UK has released a landmark report showing that cancer survival rates have doubled in England and Wales over the last 50 years. Despite cases of the disease rising, the chances of surviving it have dramatically improved.
"We're in a golden age for cancer research, with advances in digital, genomics, data science and AI reimagining what's possible," said CRUK chief executive Michelle Mitchell.
“Despite cases of the disease rising, the chances of surviving it have dramatically improved.”
The improvement is attributed to better screening, earlier diagnosis, targeted therapies, and immunotherapies. While challenges remain, the data shows that sustained investment in research is saving more lives than ever before.
