What started in Copenhagen in 2012 has become a global phenomenon: Cycling Without Age now operates in 52 countries with over 3,000 chapters. Volunteers pilot specially designed trishaws — three-wheeled bikes with a comfortable passenger seat in front — taking elderly nursing home residents on scenic rides through their communities.

For many passengers, it's the first time they've felt the wind in their hair in years. "The conversations that happen on these rides are magical," says founder Ole Kassow. "People share memories of places they pass, and volunteers form deep bonds with riders."

Research shows the rides improve mental health, reduce loneliness, and give seniors a renewed sense of connection to their neighborhoods. The right to wind in your hair, the movement believes, has no age limit.
