Eavor Wins "Overall CleanTech Innovation of the Year" for Closed-Loop Geothermal System

Eavor Technologies won the "Overall CleanTech Innovation of the Year" at the 3rd annual CleanTech Breakthrough Awards on April 9, 2026, for its Eavor-Loop system — the world's first truly scalable closed-loop geothermal technology. The award was selected from thousands of nominations across more than 16 countries.

The Eavor-Loop works by drilling two vertical wells several kilometers deep and connecting them with horizontal multilateral tunnels underground. Water circulates through this sealed loop, absorbing heat from the Earth's natural thermal gradient and bringing it to the surface for electricity generation or district heating — all without requiring any water resupply.

The award was selected from thousands of nominations across more than 16 countries.

Unlike traditional geothermal plants, which depend on naturally occurring underground reservoirs of hot water and steam, Eavor-Loop can be deployed virtually anywhere. It doesn't require fracking, doesn't produce emissions during operation, and doesn't consume water — addressing three of the main limitations of conventional geothermal energy.

The system provides dispatchable baseload power, meaning it can generate electricity consistently regardless of weather conditions. This makes it an ideal complement to intermittent renewable sources like wind and solar, which require backup when the wind isn't blowing or the sun isn't shining.

Eavor's technology represents a potential game-changer for the global energy transition. If deployed at scale, it could provide clean, reliable, round-the-clock energy from virtually any location on Earth, significantly expanding the role of geothermal energy in the global energy mix.
