The National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, D.C., has welcomed its 10 millionth visitor — reaching this milestone faster than any other Smithsonian museum. The museum, which opened in 2016, has become a cultural touchstone for understanding American history.
"This museum tells the story of America through an essential lens," said the museum director. "The response from visitors of all backgrounds shows how hungry people are for this history."

The milestone visitor, a teacher from Georgia, received a special tour and VIP access. She plans to bring her students next semester. "Every American should visit this museum," she said. "It changes how you see our country."
