In a country where literacy remains a significant challenge, six-year-old Tlotlo Tsheka from Gauteng, South Africa, is on a remarkable mission. A Grade 2 pupil at SPARK Witpoortjie school, Tlotlo has published her first books — including "Remember When" and "Mommy's Secret" — and she's just getting started.
What began as bedtime storytelling between Tlotlo and her mother, Thatohatsi Tsheka, a Publishing Director, evolved into something much bigger. Tlotlo's vivid imagination and natural gift for narrative caught her mother's attention, and together they decided to put her stories on paper.
The books, written with the unfiltered creativity and honesty that only a child can bring, have resonated with young readers and their parents alike. Tlotlo's stories explore themes of family, memory, and the special bonds between children and their parents — universal themes told through the eyes of a six-year-old.
But for Tlotlo, publishing is about more than just telling stories. She has embraced a mission to inspire other children across South Africa to read, write, and dream bigger.
